Character Sketch Sunday

Meet Cleo.

As she stepped out of her morning Pilates class with the ever-so-popular Catrina Wild, Cleo could feel the change of season in the air. She swiftly pulled the old jumper that hung delicately on top of her shoulders over her matching Koko activewear set, warming her body as the air nipped at her nose.

The muscles in Cleo’s arms began to feel warm and relaxed, pumping her body with happy endorphins as she made way to her favourite coffee shop. The class was tough, and her instructor Catrina was like a tyrant with exercise, pushing the exhausted women to keep going until the very end.

As Cleo neared the corner shop, she was greeted by a sweet aroma of freshly brewed beans and baked bread, she took a deep breath in as she entered, filling her lungs with the powerful smells. Her father owned a bakery back in her home town, so the smell of activated yeast and warm coffee really made her feel happy and nostalgic.

As Cleo grabbed her usual of black coffee and an almond square from the knowing barista, her phone buzzed persistently, making the rogue tubes of lipstick and spare change jingle in her bag. It was 8:45am and Cleo already had 6 missed calls from her assistant - Amy, a young 20-something year old, with little to no experience and a bewildered look on her face.

Cleo had desperately needed help, and when nervous Amy came for an interview Cleo couldn’t help but sympathise, she too was just like her back in the day - desperate to enter into the world of social media management, not sure how to get there and being told she wasn’t “right for the job” and “didn’t have enough experience,” even though she had just graduated from university and was looking for a job for that exact reason - experience.

Cleo shook her head in defeat and turned back to her screen. Amy was concerned about their big client meeting that was happening that afternoon. Cleo sighed, and looked around. She loved her job more than anything, but sometimes she wished she could just sit by the shop window underneath its wall of hanging foliage, sip her coffee and read a good book.

She wasn’t nervous about her meeting, she had been doing this for a few years now, and it came second nature to her. The high of pitching, wowing and impressing clients was the best thing, it gave her a rush that not even an hour long Pilates class with crazy Catrina could do.

Cleo thought back to her friends, who had called an intervention the other day, sipping wine and showing concern for her, saying she works too much and needs to find herself a balance, where she can enjoy a relationship. Cleo chuckled as she expertly typed at her phone and stuck her hand out in front of the road for a taxi, she knew her friends meant well, but it just wasn’t something Cleo really saw was missing in her life. She was happy with how things were - she was a boss woman with her own company, and nothing gave her more joy than working hard and showing all who told her she would never be able to do it, that well, she really could.

Cleo's Outfit Details:

Cleo loves to support small and woman owned brands, and so when she saw this sage green matching active set from Koko Active, she had to get it. The sage colour went so well with her skin tone, and the cut of the sports bra makes her feel supported and secure.

If you are like Cleo, then a matching set gets you extremely excited! Here, you can see the matching leggings she got with her sports bra from Koko Active. Cleo finds the pocket detail on the side is perfect for her busy lifestyle, where she needs to keep her phone *cough* LIFELINE *cough* close by at all times!
