KEY FASHION TRENDS OF AUTUMN / WINTER 2021
As summer has come to an end and the dry heat of the air around us is taking a brisk and icy turn, I thought I would give you a quick view into this year's up-and-coming trends for our colder season. Luckily for us everyday consumers there is not a massive shift in key pieces to add to your wardrobe, but rather some inspiring repeats of staple warm, and cozy items that one should be rocking to brace themselves against the cold rain and wind.
I have compiled a list of the most common and forecasted looks/pieces that I came across when researching, reading and cross-referencing all of my favourite trend forecasting sources down below to make it easier for you to access the latest fashion go-tos, hopefully inspiring you to play around with what you have already, or treating yourself to a new piece to get into the fall and wintery mood!
COLD WEATHER LEATHERS / PLEATHERS
Fashion houses such as Versace and Ferragamo have made it apparent that these weather-resistant fabrics are must haves again for your transition into Autumn and Winter. If you don't have a leather/pleather piece in your closet already, I would advise that it is about time you do invest, as it is something that actually never goes out of style, and can be worn for any occasion. If you are a first time buyer of such a piece, go for a simple and classic straight-cut jacket, as this is a piece that will serve you for years and years to come. However, if you are wanting to replicate the trendy street and runway looks we are seeing below, a more statement-like piece such as a floor-length coat, or oversized jacket with dramatic sleeves would be the way to go! A small, but brilliant way to add this trend to your closet could even be in the form of accessories, such as pleather fabric bags, bucket hats or caps. Either way, if you love this look, be sure to incorporate the textile into your closet and you are guaranteed an edgy, wintery success!

STATEMENT PUFFER
Yes, the use of puffers are here to stay. It has been a few years now that the puffer jacket has entered the colder season chat, and more than anything it has persisted as a standard wardrobe statement. We have seen puffers in multiple prints, autumnal colourways and shapes, but what makes this season unique is the boldness of the puffer's colour. If you are not wanting to go too crazy with your colour palette, but rather want to invest in a timeless piece, I would say play around with the cut and size of your puffer jacket - try to go oversized and experiment with the styling, which will in turn focus the puffer to seem like the statement piece of your outfit every time!

QUILTED PIECES
This is a textile that I am particularly excited about, giving us a fresh option of texture and fabrication. Quilted pieces are all the rage, and if used wisely, can give your wardrobe the stylish upgrade it needs! When looking for an item like this, try to find something that acts as a statement piece for your entire outfit, and pair your quilted item with muted tones and contrasting textiles to add an inspiring edginess to your look.

VELVET VELVET VELVET
This is a fabric that will forever be in the colder season's hearts as one of the most worn and time-again spoken about materials. You can now find this fabric in brilliant and bright colour ways for autumn and winter, with even the added treatment of quilting - effortlessly sprucing up your closet with warmth and boldness!
