5 Essentials for dressing cozy and stylish this winter

As the cold weather draws near within the Southern Hemisphere, I am now in the warm, fuzzy stage of wardrobe organising, where all my summer items take a hike to the back, and my warmer friends come out to shine in the front of my shelves.

For the longest time I would say I am a summer girl, who loved the hot weather. However, as the years go by I have increasingly enjoyed winter and all its fashion layering has to offer. I think the biggest deciding factor between the two seasons is honestly just the fashion, in winter I feel that it is so much easier layering and keeping warm, compared to the summer where you have to restrict yourself to minimal clothing pieces otherwise you my melt!

Here is of items that I either have in my wardrobe, or am wanting to invest in for the colder weather:

1. Pleather Pants

I have said it before and I will say it again, these pants are ideal to create interesting and edgy outfits that show off more than one textural difference. The fabrication of these bottoms allows for a slimming (yay) as well as focal point within your look.

2. Chunky Knits

Just like many times before, chunky knits are always a good idea for wintery weather. Layering your knit under a coat of wrapped scarf can help keep you warm and looking ready to take on the workplace!

3. Statement Coat

This is an item that has been showing up all over the Northern Hemisphere in countries that have already experienced the cold days. Although this may be a bold choice, it is an item that has been seen on the runway and off. If you are like me, and prefer to purchase items that are more neutral and timeless in their colourway, then I would suggest playing around texture and silhouettes in the coats themselves.

4. Oversized Blazer

This is a piece that is not just seasonal, but rather can be used as a transitional piece in all seasons. To make this piece work in winter you can play around with the layering underneath to keep yourself warm. I am personally on the lookout for a great piece like this as I feel like it is a good investment and will serve me well even outside of the colder seasons.

5. Knit Vest

This is another item that is perfect for layering and keeping you cozy. Throw a vest over a dress shirt or long sleeve and you have a warm winter look!
