What to have in your Handbag when Traveling | Top things to have handy when Touring Europe

So, this may seem like a mundane topic, but let me tell you how much I wish I had someone to advise me the best things to have on hand when touring/travelling around. Only by my 2nd week of traveling around Dublin city did I get myself organised with the necessary things, and wow do I regret it! (i'm talking blisters on the feet, and rain-drenched clothing). No matter where you are, the essentials seem to stay the same, and as a tourist on the go, it is vital to have these items handy in your backpack or handbag.

1. A lightweight raincoat: In rainier countries like Scotland, Ireland or even England it is vital to carry a lightweight rain jacket with you as you never know when it may pour down with rain! The rain showers usually don't last long, so a handy foldable waterproof jacket is ultra important to have at all times! An umbrella can work too, however we learnt that a jacket is easier as the winds can cause trouble with the umbrella, and when wearing the jackets your hands will be free to take pictures!
2. Band Aids: This is something I learnt very quickly. No matter how comfortable your shoes may be, if you are doing a lot of walking (which you usually do when travelling), it is so important to keep spare band aids on hand for when you need them on the go.
3. A Spare Mask: In these Pandemic times you will always need a mask to go into museums and any indoor areas, and so a spare one tucked in your handbag is always a good idea!
4. Small Water: A small bottle of water that isn't too heavy is something you will need if you plan on doing a lot of walking around.
5. A Camera: Something we realised a bit further into our travelling is that a decent camera is so important to have! Our smartphones can take good pictures, but if you are really wanting to have better quality pictures of your travels, then I recommend buying a camera. We did a lot of research when it came to our camera, as we had a small budget and just wanted something entry-level and simple! The camera does not need to be expensive or fancy by any means, but something slightly better than your phone is always a good idea to ensure good quality photographs!
lots of love, and happy touring! xx Britt
