What I Wore to my Wedding | The full Bridal Look

The Dress - The Primrose Gown

My dream dress is an organic silk hand-beaded piece from the beautiful bridal boutique Bo and Luca. The process of finding this dress was so easy and flawless, and it was as they say, love-at-first-fit. At the Bo and Luca showroom there are many dresses to try on, and once you find the dress you love, your measurements are taken and a gown is made from scratch as well as tailored to your body and exact specifications, guaranteeing the dress to fit like a glove and feel unique to you!

When looking for my dress, I was dead-set on finding a gown that complimented my pearl engagement ring as well as my love for vintage-style things, and this Primrose gown did exactly that. The quality of the fabric was a huge thing for me, as I am big on my organic materials and soft feels, and the silk honestly felt like I was wearing butter (lol), and so you can say this was a huge selling point for me!

The Ring - Mother of all Pearls

When it came to my engagement ring, I wanted a vintage style band with a pearl setting, as the more classic, dainty look was always my favourite and I have never been one to be too concerned with diamonds or flash! Mighail got the ring made up at Cape Diamond, a ring boutique in Greenpoint, Western Cape.

When it came to the wedding band, I just wanted something simple and dainty so as to not overpower my main ring. And so I simply got a 9ct gold band from South African jewellers NWJ Jewellery.

The Accessories - Beaded and Used

For my accessories, I knew it was important to have a focal point, but not something that would detract too much from the dress but rather compliment it and add my love for darker tones. And so, I thought I would add some black accents of colour in my headband and shoes. For the headband I actually beaded it myself, buying a cheap padded headband base from Lovisa, and then going to town on beading the entire piece with whatever beads I loved. I got the beads from a local shop Beads For Africa.

Because the ceremony was on a farm, I knew practical shoes would be important (also I hate heels and would have gone for sneakers even), and so I opted for my own Dr Martens black boots, as they are my favourite and added that extra edginess I was looking for in my styling.
