Think beer, parks, good food, museums, medieval architecture, history!
In this post I am going to share all my best things to do in Dublin City, some are more Touristy, and others are just simple activities that will make you fall in love with the city even more!
Before we get started on this post, remember to check out my previous post on what to wear in Dublin and how to pack for your trip to Ireland: https://www.itsabloggingbritt.com/post/what-to-wear-in-dublin-how-to-pack-for-your-irish-travels
Dublin City is a beautiful place that buzzes with an array of fashion, people, accents and history. It is an amazing location and the friendly locals make it all the more better! (Just remember to bring your sense of humour and sarcasm, because the Irish have wicked humour that will have you in stitches laughing!).
Tourist Sights:
Trinity College & The Book of Kells
This is a definite must-see sight. The college itself is a gorgeous university that has been operating since 1592. When you book a tour here you will get to see The Book of Kells, a 9th Century manuscript of illustrations and writings, as well as the beautiful Long Room Library, which honestly makes you feel like you have stepped into Hogwarts!

Dublin Castle
The Dublin Castle is a 13th Century building rich in history. It is a great sight to go see and learn about the tough history Ireland went through under the rule of the British at those times. The building resembles a government complex more than a literal castle, but it's interior is what makes it special. The inside is like a museum and boasts the most beautiful rococo art.

Dubh Linn Gardens / Castle Gardens
Just behind the Dublin Castle there is a beautiful manicured garden where you can sit and relax. The garden is a great spot to have your lunch or coffee whilst you admire the city around you.

Guinness Storehouse
Now the drink Guinness itself has got a bit of a mixed rep, many of the locals don't actually enjoy it (it is a very acquired taste), but if you are into the works of beer and want to experience this tour then go for it! This site is a huge tourist attraction and is a big part of Dublin City and their fame.

Christ Church Cathedral
Being Dublin's oldest building, this Cathedral is a beautiful sight to see! It has been a church for 1000 years and boasts a lot of history and artefacts for you to see.

National Gallery of Ireland
This site boasts a huge collection of European art from the 14th - 20th Century. It is a great place to take a relaxing walk through the galleries and appreciate the artistry hanging above.

Merrion Square Park
This park is conveniently near the National Gallery, and so once you are done admiring the art, you can grab a coffee or lunch and head over to the park! The park is a beautifully manicured space with historic displays such as Oscar Wilde himself. This park is a great spot to walk through and sit down by the flowers.

Stephan's Green Park
This is the most popular and iconic park of Dublin City, it is situated right in the middle of the busy centre and offers a beautiful tranquility as you sit and enjoy the nature around you. Be sure to make your way to the water's edge and watch the swans swim by! This spot is also perfect to grab a coffee nearby (I recommend Butler's Chocolate Café right across the road as they make the best coffees, pastries, and chocolate bonbons).

St Stephan's Green Shopping Centre
This centre is a great central stop for all things you would need to shop in a pinch. There's a lovely Dunnes Store (a popular Ireland department store) that has everything from food, to homeware to clothing. This centre is great to see and shop in, and is the best place to run into if you are needing toilets after all the wandering around!

St Patrick's Park & Cathedral
This park is one of the smaller ones, and isn't as busy. It is slightly further away and requires a walk, but it is a beautiful spot to see. You can also admire St Patrick's Cathedral, or even go in for a tour if you want!
