A Romantic Getaway: Babylonstoren

"Join us for a restorative farm stay." - This is the opening statement of Babylonstoren's booking website, and it is most definitely true. When you stay at Babylonstoren there is a sense of calm and peacefulness that seems to wash over you the more you spend time there. There is so much to explore and each day you can find something new.

Babylonstoren is a great romantic getaway option for couples who love to spend time in nature, enjoy walking around gardens and appreciate fresh, wholesome cuisine.

The Accommodation

Babylonstoren is set in the beautiful mountains of Simondium, Western Cape South Africa. At this beautiful farm you can choose from a variety of accommodation options. Here, I have laid out the different packages for you to have a look at. Mighail and I spent our honeymoon in the Fynbos Cottage, and it was nothing less than a dream. The included activities make for a great itinerary, and the service of all the staff was incredible and helpful.

First up is the Baylonstoren Farmhouse. This is a a lovely room accommodation where you can enjoy a guest house experience, but with a twist. It's not just like any other suite accommodation, Babylonstoren makes the experience unique and special with their gourmet cuisine and their farm adventures and activities.

Next up is the Garden Cottages. I personally have been inside these as I did makeup for a wedding where the bridal party was staying in these cottages, and needless to say, it was breathtaking! The cottages themselves are set to the side of the farm, close to the running river stream heeled with an abundance of luscious trees and flowers. There are three options of cosy cottages to choose from.

Now let's turn our attention to the Fynbos Cottages (my personal favourite). These cottages are set more to the back of the farm, giving a lot more privacy and seclusion for the guests. Here you can choose between a one or two bedroom cottage.

If you are wanting a space for a large family or group of people, then there are two accommodation options for you. First is the Fynbos Family House which can sleep 10. Or there is the Manor House that can also sleep 10. These two options are perfect for a family vacation or intimate wedding with a handful of guests. The stay will remain true to Babylonstoren's luxurious feel, and it will make for great memories!

Activities

Whilst Mighail and I stayed here we were in awe of the amount of activities, adventures and things to see. When staying at Babylonstoren there is always something new, lending an exciting morning each day. Every time I would walk through the gardens or ride the bike to breakfast, I would feel like Alice in Wonderland - like there was so much to see and so little time to do it in.

Besides the gorgeous restaurants and magical gardens, Babylonstoren offers even more activities for their guests, allowing us to roam free and take it all at our own pace. Mine and Mighail's personal favourite activities were the mountain drive, the fishing, rowing at the dam and the garden tour. When you take a guided tour such as the mountain drive or the garden walk, you allow yourself to be taught by passion-filled specialists whose knowledge of the farm is exorbitant.

Rating

All in all Babylonstoren was an incredible experience for both my husband and I. It brought us closer together and allowed for us to have peaceful alone time to really bond as a newly married couple. Everything from the quality to customer service was impeccable. The imaginative and creative world of this farm left us both speechless a lot of the times, and we so wished we could have stayed even longer!

As you can see, it is a very high rating, but honestly it is all true. This experience with Babylonstoren was unforgettable, and is something I would recommend to anyone who can do it!
